Of the over 1.3 million children and youth experiencing homelessness in the United States, more than 10,900 homeless children and youth were identified in the state of New Jersey during the 2016-17 school year. The NJ Board of Education has identified 13,236 Homeless student’s during the 2017-2018 School year, an increase of 28% from the previous year. At the present time there are 665 homeless students identified in Cumberland County. On a weekly basis we received notifications of at least 7 Homeless Students that require transportation to school. Safe and reliable Van’s are needed to transport students to and from school.

School is the one security kids have when their housing is topsy-turvy. Bonds are formed with classmates as well as teachers which adds stability, thus reducing the overwhelming feeling of being without a place to call home. School provides tangible resources of food, counsel, school supplies and knowledge.
